There is something so special about photographing a long time friend’s newborn session. Melissa and I have been friends since college. I’d like to say that we hit it right off and from day 1 became BFF but we actually sat RIGHT next to each other for one class our entire sophomore year and never talked to one another. I was too busy writing down every word the professor uttered and she showed up to class when she felt like it. 😉 Pretty sure, her grade was still better than mine!

Anyway, long story short: She’s now one of my greatest friends. She stood in my wedding. I stood in hers. And now I have the honor of photographing her babies.

Maternity and Newborn – Oklahoma City Photographer

We shot their maternity session on a gorgeous summer evening just before the Oklahoma rain rolled in.

and just a few weeks later, Baby Troop joined the family. He was such a handsome baby, and very very awake 🙂 He took a quick little catnap to get a few posed shots, but after that, he just didn’t want to miss out on all the action. Baby Ella – Oklahoma City Newborn Photographer

I had the honor of photographing Ella’s birth. Her mommy quickly progressed so while I’m typically waiting around with the extended family, in this case I was RUNNING to make sure I would make it in time to document her arrival. Births are exciting. And in this case, adrenaline-rushing. 😉

Her newborn session was a little more calm. Ella was so sweet and snuggly and a sleeping champion.

Amelie’s Birthday. Oklahoma City Photographer

With every session I have, there’s something specific I love about each one. Amelie’s smash cake session will always be one of my favorites. Her mommy brought forks for everyone to dig in and participate once we snapped a few pics of just Amelie with her cake. It was the perfect ending.

Although DeShazo Photography is now in it’s 8th year, I’m just now beginning to articulate that what I love most about photography is connection. Its in the way Dad tosses his baby in the air to get the best giggles, or the way a mom can’t stop staring at her newborn’s new face – trying to store every tiny detail into her memory. That’s where life is captured. Those are the seemingly insignificant moments that too often sneak by too quickly.
