Andre and Kim have been good friends of our family for years. I’ve been able to watch their oldest, Jenna, grow from toddler to little girl, Eli is just months older than Gabe and it’s so fun to see them turn into buddies, and I just had the privilege of meeting Juliet, their youngest and shooting her newborn pictures.
I shot Eli’s baby pictures when he was born. It was my first baby session. I’m pretty sure I begged Kim to let me come and take pictures for them! here’s little Jenna and Eli then….
and here they are now…
…with their baby sister, Juliet.
Once baby Juliet fell asleep, Kim and I were able to sneak her away to play a bit of dress up!
Doesn’t she look so sophisticated in her pearls?
I’m excited to watch little Juliet grow into the little person she’ll become!
Sweet little Zane is such a beautiful newborn! He has the most perfect round little face complete with little bitty pouty lips and bright beautiful eyes that he wasn’t about to close for the life of him! Poor baby fought SO hard to stay awake but he finally lost the battle and drifted off into dreamland!
Luckily Zane’s Mama was super patient and willing to work alongside me to get him to sleep!
Photography Tip: For parents who are planning to set up a newborn session – patience is key! Know that we are on Baby’s Time. Even if it takes an hour or so for baby to fall asleep – it’s well worth the wait!
I’ve spent the last couple of days in LA mentoring with world-renowned photographer (and my idol) Barbara Uil with Jinky Art. Because Barb is from Australia, I never thought in my wildest dreams I would ever talk to her – much less sit at a table and learn from her or shoot with her! But back in January, when I blog-stalked heard she was coming to the US – I jumped at the opportunity! Now, 9 months later – I can’t believe the day has already come and gone – but I know my business will never be the same because of it and I am so grateful!
I am overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge I’ve gained and am still processing all of it! I’m still spending the next few days in California celebrating my 4 year anniversary with Kevin – but I HAD to share at least one image from the workshop!
Can’t wait to share the rest with you!
As you can see, there has been a bit of renovation going on around DeShazo Photography – my branding “look and feel” has completely changed and I am SO excited about the new look! I was beginning to feel like the old logo/colors never truly fit my style of photography – which I would describe as more of a vintage/whimsical feel as opposed to a bright and bold feel that the old logo/brand suggested. (I’m sure most people didn’t pay much attention – but it was driving me cra-zy!) Good things come with SUPER talented friends who know me well – thank you Jennifer to taking the time to create my awesome new look!
I love that the stem in the flower creates a “dp” for deshazo photography and how the colors, flower and all-around look is just “more me.” There are still MANY changes to come and I am SO excited to share with you within the next couple of months….but those will remain a little secret for now! 🙂
And what’s a blog post without a photo? Here’s a shot my husband grabbed with his iphone of Gabe and I enjoying a popsicle and a good conversation!
Kathy - Amen! Yes please, especially if I can snuggle down with that precious little one!
