Pumpkin Patch {Oklahoma City Family Photographer}

Last week after 2 attempted trips, followed by two quick turn-arounds on account of rain, we finally made it to the pumkin patch. I was determined to go since this would be Gabe’s first trip! Finally, the week before Halloween we managed to barely squeeze it in!

First we ran around the petting zoo. Notice I said ran. There was absolutely no interest in the goats, horses, or cows. Apparently they’re great on paper, but far too scary up close.

We stopped for a bit of farm work:

Then we picked out pumpkins. Gabe of course went for the biggest he could find. And with everything he had in him, tried to pick it up:

But after much searching, he finally settled on a “Gabe-sized” pumpkin.

Rachael and Alex {Oklahoma City Children Photographer}

The last time I saw this family was in January. Just 10 months ago. In that short 10 months little Rachael and Alex have gone from this:

to this:

We had them copy the pose from the previous session to show how much they’ve grown. Little do they know I may be asking them to lay down with their heads together up until they’re 18. 🙂 You would never guess by Rachael’s sweet expression but there was A LOT of hair pulling going on by little brother behind the scenes. Such a sweet big sister!

Rachael came prepared. the yellow flower in her hair was her idea. Alex came prepared to – He had his running shoes on.

Something Old, Something New… {Oklahoma City Photographer}

Last week I have the honor of shooting a beautiful wedding.  But it wasn’t just any wedding – this was Sarah Grove’s wedding! Sarah and I go WAY back.  At one point in our lives “Sarah Grove and Megan Kelly” were inseparable. I have so many incredible memories with Sarah – I wish I could share them all here. But one that stands out the most is working our first job together: The Broken Arrow Baseball field concession stand. Yep. We made hotdogs and popcorn and served pop and ate an ungodly amount of candy together. But alas, we went through the inevitable “high school girl” drama. Enemy lines were drawn. Sarah and I stopped talking, years went by and we lost touch. If “Me now” could tell “Me then” anything, it would be to swallow your pride and restore your friendship. I cringe now on all the lost years I missed out on as her friend.

So when Sarah asked me to photograph her wedding, I didn’t think twice about it.  How cool that after so many years I had the honor of documenting the most important day of her life. Congratulations Alex and Sarah! Many more photos to come soon!!

Cousins {Tulsa Family Photographer}

Michael “Trey” and I are 6 weeks apart.  For that reason we have had our pictures taken with each other, well, since birth. Trey is my cousin. And my Grandma has always been a big fan of documenting all of us grandkids as we grow through the years (maybe that combined with a few other artists in the family is where I developed my “eye” for photography 🙂 ) This session was so fun because this time it wasn’t a “cousin photo”. This time I got to play photographer and meet up with Michael and Kari in Tulsa to snap some photos of their family! (How are we already this old? To have families of our own?!? so weird.)

Little Mya is the newest member of the Kelly family. Is she not the cutest ever?

Next in age is wild and crazy, Beau.

And finally, the sweet and beautiful, Mackenzie:

Mackenzie and Beau are so sweet with little Mya.

In fact, judging from Mya’s expression in the next photo – sometimes a little too sweet!

Perhaps her big brother has been teaching her some of his tricks…(sorry Kari, I couldn’t resist!)

Just Days {Oklahoma City Newborn Photographer}

“This is a box filled with all the time in the world & most people are amazed it fits in such a small space.” – storypeople

They grow so fast. Just one of the reasons why I love photographing newborns – they are only this small for a matter of days. Just days. Suddenly you blink and they become a toddler standing in front of the refrigerator begging for a 3rd cup of juice.

Here is Baby Kendall at just 10 days old. Isn’t he a beautiful baby boy?

Don’t let these sweet dreamy poses fool you.  I came with a handful of ideas I wanted to incorporate. But he had ideas of his own – and was much happier with his plans.

Really I think he just wanted to find his way back to his Mommy and Daddy’s arms. (Smart little guy.)
