George {Oklahoma City Newborn Photographer}

George decided he would outdo everyone and give his Mommy the best Mother’s Day gift of all – himself. From the looks of Mom and Dad’s face , I think it’s safe to say they like their gift!

George’s session was right in the middle of Game 7 of the Thunder/Memphis series. So of course George wanted to sport his Thunder Blue to support his team! 😉 Thankfully Eric gave me game updates so I was able to waltz home in an “all-knowing” fashion and brag to Kevin that I already knew Thunder won by 15!

Thanks Amanda and Eric for inviting me into your home to capture Baby George’s first days! You have handsome little man in your hands!

Cathryn {Tulsa Newborn Photographer}

Yesterday I drove up to Tulsa to meet sweet little Cathryn. Her mom and dad didn’t find out whether she was a boy or girl until her delivery. I love hearing stories of people who choose “not to find out” maybe because it makes the first meeting all the more thrilling or maybe its because due to my non-secret-keeping personality I could never do this myself so I’m always in awe of those that do and can WAIT the whole 40 weeks!

Little Cathryn was worth the wait! And just look at all her hair – to die for!

Sparkling Blue Eyes {Oklahoma City Baby Photographer}

Last time I saw baby Kamden he had dark brown hair and kept his sleepy eyes shut the whole session…

This last session his bright blue eyes were far from closed and we was full of smiles and blond hair! I’ve said it a million times but one of the greatest perks of being a photographer is being able to watch and capture all the sweet babies grow up!

Confession {Oklahoma City Photographer}

I am the world’s worst about taking the time to put my own personal blog posts up here.  And let’s be honest, one of the main reason’s for that is because I’ve just gotten bad at taking pictures of my own baby – who’s really more and more “little boy” every day.

I could blame the hassle: When we are playing in the backyard I just don’t want to take the time to go get the camera.  When we go to the zoo, the park, or Gymboree I don’t take it, it’s too cumbersome – just too much to handle with a wiggly, independent 2 year old. I could blame him: He’s too fast, not interested, he’d rather be the one holding the camera which leads into a full blown tantrum and who wants to photograph that? I could blame my perfectionism: too low of light, too harsh of shadows. blah, blah, blah.

But the truth is I’m cheating him. I’m cheating myself.  I spend so much time capturing moments for strangers and totally missing moments for myself. I promise to get better. I have to get better. In just a few short months there’s going to be two babies to take care of in the DeShazo home and I can’t let my “too full hands” be an excuse to miss out on capturing them grow up.

So here’s Gabe at Easter – dying his first Easter eggs. Of course this is centered more around an event but I have to start somewhere – I’ll be posting much more of our “everyday” more often.

notice the demolished Easter egg? He quickly discovered that crushing and defacing the dye-soaked Easter eggs was just as fun as dropping them in the dye. typical boy.

Perfect. {Oklahoma City Family Photographer}

Perfect. The family, the lighting, the location – we even had an evening with no wind [enter gasp here] this is huge for Oklahoma City – we always have wind – and a lot of it! Even Zeke, the dog was a great participant.

Jazmyne and Blakely are 12 years apart. My own sister and I are 10 years. So its fun to see their relationship now and know how much it will change and grow throughout their lifetime. Seeing Jazmyne interact with Blakely now, I think its easy to say that they’ll be good friends. Blakely adored her and her intriguing pink cast.

Its a good thing we were out in the middle of a field…separated from the rest of society . If only you could hear the noises we were making at Blakely behind the camera to get her to smile. It wasn’t pretty – but it worked!
