This week:
My goal this year is to try to capture a bit more of my everyday life. I’ve seen other photographers challenge themselves to a photo a day, and so I’m taking up that challenge. I’ll probably skip days, of course, and some days won’t be so glamorous. Some days will be documenting timeouts, and some will probably be less than “professional” quality. But these pictures are for me. I’ll try to post a blog once per week, showing a recap of my everyday life shots. Here’s to week 1.
Week of December 19-26
This year is the first year Gabe understands Christmas. For that reason, December has been a joy with him – I’ve been trying to capture every little detail. We discuss the story of Jesus’ birthday (though the part where Gabriel comes to Mary kind of confuses him…note to self: don’t use the Angel’s name until next year.), we talk about Santa, sing Jingle bells (over and over…and over), bake Christmas cookies and this is big: SIT on SANTA’S LAP!
Here are our Santa visits from Christmas’ past. Not so good, people. Not so good.
2009:
2010. Absolutely traumatizing.
I’m so sorry, Santa. Thank you for trying to smile.
And this year: Peace on Earth!
Gabe was a big fan of decorating the Christmas tree. According to him, he decorated it and “Mama helped.”
Isn’t it so sweet how both boys are admiring the Christmas tree? Little do you know, Noah is asleep and we’re using Gabe’s arm to prop up his head. All for the sake of a picture.
To be fair to Noah, here’s a non-Christmas picture of his sweet face.
When you reach for the stars
Don’t forget who you are
And please don’t turn around and grow up way too fast
See the sand in my grasp
From the first to the last
Every grain becomes a memory of the past
Oh, life’s an hourglass

They grow so fast. Here is Palmer, just over a week old. He was such a sweet little guy. You wouldn’t guess from the pictures below, but sleeping wasn’t on his agenda for the day…
Oh, hello again, Bright Eyes!
