Photography Idol {Oklahoma City Photographer}

I’m going out on a limb and have decided to enter my work into a contest hosted by Chic Critique called Photography Idol with a handful of other incredibly talented photographers. (eek!) The first challenge: submit one photograph that embodies yourself as a photographer (just one?!?). How do I say who am I with no words, just a single image? I immediately thought of this image. Of course, I still had to look through other sessions from the past year, pull my favorites and ask my husband”s opinion before I made a final decision – he chose this one too, by the way! And so here it is:

I had a blast planning this session and luckily mom let me run with the crazy idea when I suggested it to her! I had wanted to do a session inspired by Sara Evans’ song Suds In the Bucket:

“Our little pony-tailed girl grown up to be a woman
Now she’s gone in the blink of an eye
She left the suds in the bucket
And the clothes hangin’ out on the line”

It turned out to be one of my favorite sessions to date.

I love, love love creating unique, fun and memorable sessions for my clients! If you are interested on booking a themed session for your next session – lets talk! They are SO much fun and unique to you!

Grayson {Oklahoma City Newborn Photographer}

Grayson’s mommy and I went to college together – it’s always so fun to reconnect with old classmates and document their babies for them. Who would have thought 10 years ago that I would be capturing the first few days of her baby! Sometimes I am still in awe that this gets to be my job!

Grayson is beautiful. He has incredible jet black hair, gorgeous skin and piercing eyes. I know because I got to see a lot of his eyes.  Grayson did not want to sleep. He fought and fought to stay awake and I can honestly say, he won. But that didn’t stop me – We were able to get plenty of sleepy poses and catch his little awake self as well!

Brinley {Oklahoma City Newborn Photographer}

I love these girls. Our families go to the same church and our oldest babies are close in age and have always been in the same class. While I was editing, Gabe leaned over and said, “Hey! She’s in my church class. What’s her name?” Clearly they’re still at the age where the girls quietly color or read the books while the boys…well, the boys in the 3-4 year old class like to pretend they’re dogs.

It’s fun to see how much Avery has grown and exciting to know that I’ll be able to watch Brinley grow too.

Congratulations Heather and Steve – she’s perfect!

Everyday Life Weeks 29 and 30 {Oklahoma City Photographer}

The last two weeks, Oklahoma days have been competing with who’s temperature can get higher…109, 111…112! Then, Noah felt like he’d join in the competition and had a fever of a steady 102 (with a scary peak of 105 thrown in for dramatic effect). Needless to say, with temperatures that melt your skin and a sick baby – we haven’t left the house much this week!
